“What kind of Ancestor are you going to be?”

— Enid Pickett

What People are Saying

"Enid Pickett is a poet who writes for sound and meaning. She has mastered alliteration which allows you to hear and see the music of what she is saying. She is very thorough in developing the themes of each poem. For example, she explores nature, colors and music throughout her poetic discourse. As she puts it, she wants the reader to listen with their eyes and see with their ears. She reminds us of the social climax which effects all of us bringing us from the past to the present. In a world where mediocrity is acceptable, Enid's work raises the bar. It was an absolute pleasure to read her poems and to appreciate the originality of her style."

Abiodun Oyewole, founding member of The Last Poets

“Enid Pickett scripts the pain the power the resilience through her poetic tone of the AfriDiasporic Experience rooted in American soil. She cast the cowrie shells and visions ‘Lyrical Libations of Liberations…’ in her Poem for John Coltrane.”

Destiny Muhammad, Harpist from the Hood
